Wandsworth’s new parks policy could mean more noise, more disruption, and less access — all without a clear plan or proper public say.
Wandsworth Council is consulting on major changes to how our parks and green spaces are used – but they’re doing it without transparency, proper detail, or direct community engagement.
What’s the problem?
The Council says it wants to make parks more accessible for cultural events — but its draft ‘Events in Parks’ Policy:
- Lacks transparency – no detailed list of affected parks, no clear rules on what counts as an “event,” or who decides when noise or late-night activities are allowed.
- Includes no impact assessments – there is no financial, economic, or proper environmental analysis to back up the changes.
- Avoids face-to-face dialogue – no public meetings, no forums, and no real chance to ask questions and get answers.
